Title: "Winds of Time"

38 "W x 12.5'H

Year: 2012

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Reno, NV

Built for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada, this kinetic wind sculpture has many elements that are metaphoric. The main spinning element is reminiscent of DNA, which is symbolicof all life on Earth. Though the materials of the sculpture are industrial and clearly manmade, the motive force powering this piece is the wind. This amalgamation of man and natural forces is a reminder that we are part of the natural world and should seek to coexist with it. The sculpture is topped with a weathervane. Just as the weathervane is constantlyseeking direction, we too are constantly seeking direction in our lives. At the front of the weathervane is a blue bottle filled with sand. The blue is symbolic of the Earth, which is often referred to as the Blue Planet. The sand in this vessel is like the sand in an hourglass and is symbolic of our journey through time.”
