EXPERIENCE

Kinetic Wind Sculptures
1998 – Present
I am currently designing and fabricating large kinetic wind driven sculptures. Materials used include: steel, stainless steel, sheet metal, copper, low-friction bearings, wire, stone, springs, etc. Fabrication techniques used include: bending, cutting, welding, forming, painting, powder coating, riveting, aging, etc. For the last several years I have be doing primarily large public art projects.

2002 and 2003, Best of Show, TMCC Student Art Competition, Reno, NV

2004, Excellence in Design Award, Washoe County, NV, This was awarded for the 63 kinetic sculptures I did for the City of Reno.

2004, Recipient of Professional Artist Grant, Sierra Arts, Reno, NV

2007. Recipient of Professional Artist Grant, Sierra Arts, Reno, NV

PUBLIC ART

2003, City of Reno, NV. A total of 63 kinetic wind sculptures were built and installed for the City of Reno’s “Arts and Culture District”. A permanent installation.

2006, Port of San Diego, San Diego, CA. The kinetic wind sculpture "Bonsai" on display for one year at the Embarcadero as part of the ports "Urban Trees Three" public art program.

2007, Bonanza Shopping Center, Las Vegas, NV. A series of 12 light pole kinetic wind sculptures was created for a shopping center. A permanent installation.

2007, Horizon View Park, Reno, NV. The kinetic wind sculpture "Wind Dancers" was created for a public park. A permanent installation.

2008, Interlocken Park, Broomfield, CO. "Birds", a kinetic wind sculpture consisting of seven robotic birds that weathervane in formation into the wind. A permanent installation.

2008, Port of San Diego, San Diego, CA. The kinetic wind sculpture "School of Blue Bottle Noses" on display at the Embarcadero for one year as part of the ports "Urban Trees Five" public art program. Purchased by the port after the event and is now a permanent installation.

2008, Robb Drive Roundabout, City of Reno, NV. "Free Flight", a kinetic wind sculpture consisting of 12 robotic flyers, each with articulating tails. A permanent installation.

2008, McWane Science Center Plaza, Birmingham, AL. A total of 17 kinetic light pole sculptures for the plaza at the Science Center. A permanent installation.

2009, Port of San Diego, CA. The kinetic wind sculpture "Perpetual Motion" on display at the Embarcadero for one year as part of the ports "Urban Trees Six" public art program.

2010, Clackamas Town Center, Clackamas, OR. "Flying Humans", a kinetic wind sculpture consisting of seven robotic flyers that weathervane. A permanent installation.

2011, Athon Downs Park, San Ramon, CA. The kinetic wind sculpture "Shadow Dancers" installed at the Athon Downs Park central Plaza. A permanent installation.

2011, UTA Train Station, South Jordon, UT. "People in Transit", a kinetic wind sculpture consisting of ten robotic flyers that weathervane into the wind. A permanent installation.

2013, Keizer Transit Station, Keizer, OR. "In Motion", kinetic wind sculpture consisting of nine "flyers" installed amongst the landscaping at the Station.

2014. Westcrest Park, Seattle WA. "Flyers", kinetic wind sculpture consisting of 15 individual airplane-like elements at various locations throughout the park.

2003, Soroptimist International Arts and Authors Art Show, Reno, NV. Featured Artist for the 2003 show/sale held at the National Automobile Museum.
